About Whitney
“As a lifelong Tennessean, proudly born, raised and educated in Johnson City, I am deeply committed to serving this community.”
Whitney Calhoun Goetz was appointed to the Johnson City Commission in October 2025, bringing nearly two decades of public service experience at the federal, state, and local levels.
The first step in her career in public service began in Washington, D.C. in the office of U.S. Senator Bob Corker, then continued in senior leadership roles with the Tennessee Department of Treasury in Nashville, directing legislative affairs and overseeing statewide workforce andprofessional development initiatives for more than 300 employees as Director of Human Resources.
In 2020, Whitney came home to Johnson City as Executive Director of the National Alumni Association at East Tennessee State University, a role she held until earlier this year.
Whitney is the wife of John Goetz and the proud mother of two boys, George and Teddy. She is grateful for the chance to serve Johnson City at this important moment.
